The University of Maryland University College in conjunction with the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and Maryland Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs are this year's host organizations for the 2007 TOP 100 Minority Business Enterprise Awards Ceremony. The awards program will take place on Thursday November 8, 2007 at the Inn and Conference Center in Adelphi, Maryland.

The Top 100 MBE awards were created to recognize those enterprising women and minority entrepreneurs that fuel this nation’s economy through their innovation, sacrifices, and dedication. These business owners are living their dreams and making significant contributions to their clients, professions, industries and communities.
Nominations for this award are solicited through the region's many chambers of commerce, professional organizations, the business community and the general public. Nominees are notified by mail and must submit an application to be considered.
A preliminary screening of the applications received is conducted to ensure that each applicant meet the basic criteria. A panel of distinguished judges then have the difficult task of evaluating hundreds of applications and through a system of scoring determining the 2007 TOP100 MBEs. (The 2006 winners are not eligible this year.)
We have also established a special category of awards to honor MBEs who have reached the pinnacle in their profession and epitomize dedication to serving our community. This year we will bestow the title of Business Legend to three individuals.
We invite you participate as we celebrate these incredible men and women who have achieved the American dream of business ownership despite the obstacles in their path. Their stories are real and their contributions are inspiring.
